where e, e label the helicity states and k is the momentum transfer. In a naive wave function picture G1(0) can be interpreted as the fraction of the nucleon spin carried by the quarks. Experimental determinations lead to an unexpectedly small value of G1(0), calling for a theoretical explanation in the context of a nonperturbative study in QCD. G1(0) can be extracted from the nucleon matrix element of the topological charge density q(x) by using the fact that in the chiral limit the anomalous divergence of j μ is proportional to the topological charge density. In the presence of dynamical fermions, one has

On the Beta Function in Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

We re–examine perturbative and nonperturbative aspects of the beta function in N = 1 and N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories, make comments on the recent literature on the subject and discuss the exactness of several known results such as the NSVZ beta function. GEF-TH 2/99 IFUP-TH 10/99

IFUP-TH 57/95 Improved lattice operators: the case of the topological charge density

We analyze the properties of a class of improved lattice topological charge density operators, constructed by a smearing-like procedure. By optimizing the choice of the parameters introduced in their definition, we find operators having (i) a better statistical behavior as estimators of the topological charge density on the lattice, i.e. less noisy; (ii) a multiplicative renormalization much cl...

Inspired by factorized scattering from delta–type impurities in (1+1)-dimensional space-time, we propose and analyse a generalization of the Zamolodchikov–Faddeev algebra. Distinguished elements of the new algebra, called reflection and transmission generators, encode the particle–impurity interactions. We describe in detail the underlying algebraic structure. The relative Fock representations ...

Yangian symmetry in the Nonlinear Schrödinger hierarchy

We study the Yangian symmetry of the multicomponent Quantum Nonlinear Schrödinger hierarchy in the framework of the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method. We give an explicit realization of the Yangian generators in terms of the deformed oscillators algebra which naturally occurs in this framework.
